Ivan Alvarez

Ivan has been VP Information Technology for NCR Corporation since September of 2012. He is the Big Data & Analytics VP for the Corporation since January 2019. Ivan also represents NCR on the Master of Analytics at Georgia Tech. Previously he was responsible for the ecommerce program of NCR and the technology that supports Service Delivery and Managed Services offers. This included the enablement of the of NCR Digital Connected Services (IoT), Data Analytics, Oracle Enterprise Services, the development and/or support of Managed Services applications like End Point Management, Software Distribution, Remote Management and Monitoring, Cash Management - planning and Call Centers applications like Cisco Call Management and others.

Prior to joining NCR Ivan was VP of Products and Process Development for SunGard Availability Services between 2008 and 2011. During his tenure at SunGard AS he developed the SunGard-Enterprise Cloud service and three Backup as a Services products working with CISCO, EMC, Data Domain and I365. These products had double digit revenue growth for SunGard AS during the first three years in the market. Between 2003 and 2008 Ivan worked for NCR Corporation where he had three roles: Director of IT Field Services, Program Manager of the Teradata Spin-Off and Director of IT Strategy and Architecture. In his role as Director of Strategy and Architecture he drove the development of the plans to achieve NCR’s IT “Efficient Destination – aka Less possible cost” vision. Those efforts translated on reducing the IT operational cost by more than 40% with a very positive impact on company valuation on the same period.

Prior to NCR, Ivan worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for sixteen years. His last responsibility at Goodyear was Director of Corporate Applications where he was in charge of the Corporate SAP applications suite. Before his assignment as the Corporate Applications Director, Ivan was Director of Applications for the Latin America business unit. On this assignment he led the Business to Business implementations in Latin America driving revenue in excess of $400M on annual basis. He was also the head of the ERP implementations on the same operating unit of the company between 1997 and 2000 where he deployed the full suite of BAAN process systems to more than thirteen countries. During his career at Goodyear, he had different international assignments in Brasil, Venezuela and Belgium. At Goodyear Ivan also held different positions in Logistics, Manufacturing, Finance and Customer Support.

Ivan earned his Master of Business Administration - from the University of Notre Dame. He holds a BS in Software Engineering and Computer Sciences from University of Los Andes – Colombia. Ivan is married to his wife Ana who works in linguistics and automated translation. They have two children. Ivan enjoys outdoor activities including Cycling and Diving and also likes reading about business affairs and technology development.
