Seven change management steps for automation success

From assigning change champions to communicating governance structures, these are the seven steps critical to automation success

When disruptive technologies such as RPA, intelligent automation and cognitive technologies are first introduced, it’s not uncommon for those spearheading such initiatives to encounter unprecedented levels of fear, confusion and resistance to change across all levels of the organization. 

Change management is critical in countering this fear and confusion, and setting organizations up for automation success. 

According to John Cottongim, automation lead for global business services at AIG's Automation CoE, it all begins with giving management teams meaningful time to become familiar with the various models and criteria for automation success.

"Having supporting team members from the various operational areas (e.g. IT, legal, risk), who understand the core technologies and can 'speak the language,' is critical to enabling the solution team to quickly deliver the solution and the business team to receive the best possible outcome from these projects," he said.
